The Fatupaepae of Ika-Nei
Share
In every Tokelau family, there is a special title known as the Fatupaepae. This title is traditionally given to the leading woman of the family—the one who brings everyone together to prepare for important occasions, celebrations, and community gatherings.
The Fatupaepae also plays an important role in ensuring every family is cared for, helping divide and share the catch and meals among the wider family, reflecting the Tokelau values of generosity, unity, and service.
At Ika-Nei, we honour this tradition. Our team is built on the same spirit of working together, supporting one another, and sharing the gifts of our culture with the world.
Meet the Ika-Nei Fatupaepae.
